About This Tool
Overview
Select a messy paragraph in your browser, press a shortcut, and have it rewritten, summarized, translated or grammar-checked without leaving the page.
That is the core of TexTab, a macOS AI writing assistant that lets you build your own AI actions and attach each one to a keyboard shortcut.
It works on selected text in any app, including browsers, email clients and IDEs.
TexTab connects to OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity, and you bring your own API key, so you pay those providers directly instead of a recurring software subscription.
It also offers prompt enhancement, native plugins such as a QR code generator, and a local-first design that keeps data on your Mac.
It is Mac only.
