It pairs with SAM 3, so you can extract an object using a text prompt and then rebuild it in 3D.

Meta releases checkpoints, inference code and benchmarks, which makes it easy to try and adapt.

It also works on older or user-generated images, which suits quick AR and VR prototyping.

The catches are real.

Low-quality images, extreme lighting and heavy occlusion cause problems, and rare object categories or fine structures can be misread.

Moving people and deformable objects remain hard, and you should profile latency and compute before production use.
