Hemingway Editor

As a writing editor, Hemingway Editor takes a different route from most grammar checkers: it color-codes your draft so you can see where a sentence drags, instead of quietly rewriting it.

Hemingway Editor is an online proofreading tool that flags long, dense sentences, passive voice and adverbs so your prose reads clearer.

The colors do the teaching.

Yellow sentences should be shortened or split.

Red sentences are too dense and complicated.

Purple words have simpler alternatives.

Blue marks adverbs, passive voice and other weakening phrases.

That makes it a good fit if you want to learn why a sentence reads badly, not just accept a fix.

The free editor is about spotting weak writing and cutting it back.

Hemingway Editor Plus goes further.

It uses AI to fix the highlighted issues, adds an advanced grammar checker, and lets you change the tone or style of your text.

If you want paraphrasing and AI fixes, that paid tier is where they live.
