Ello

Getting a young child to read aloud every day is hard when no adult has the time to sit and listen. Ello is an AI reading coach for kids in Kindergarten to 3rd Grade that listens to a child read and responds with personalized guidance.

It uses speech recognition to follow along, so the child practices out loud rather than just tapping a screen.

The aim is better reading skills and more confidence, and Ello also helps families settle into a consistent reading schedule.

The experience is built to be engaging and fun for children, and the listing material describes it as recommended by experts and loved by parents.

It is a digital platform, so practice can happen at home.

Some users report that the app does not always hear words correctly, and it may miss incorrect pronunciations, so a parent still needs to stay within earshot.

Ello is currently available only on iOS, meaning iPhones and iPads.

It is also not a fit for pre-readers, since a child needs to be able to decode basic words before the app is useful.
