Deta Surf

Deta Surf is open source, which is the first thing to know before you install anything. The AI notebook works with any AI model, and it keeps your data on your own machine in open file formats.

No pricing is given here, so there is nothing to compare plans against.

What Deta Surf does is pull PDFs, YouTube videos, websites and photos into one library, then lets you write, plan, explore and reflect against that pile with generative AI.

You can use it as a research tool to make sense of long videos, multi-page PDFs and scientific diagrams, and to turn what you find into personal notes.

Students get a specific pitch.

Deta Surf can act as a study companion and reference engine that helps you find answers, connect ideas, and build flashcards and outlines.

It also counts as an AI browser of sorts, since the web and your files sit directly inside the notebook rather than in separate tabs.

If you care about owning your notes and choosing your own model, that local-first setup is the main reason to try it.
