ChartDB is a free, open-source database diagram tool that also generates DDL scripts with AI, which helps when you need to recreate or migrate a schema in another system.

ChartDB works with multiple database management systems, so you are not tied to one engine.

You can use the hosted cloud version or run it yourself if you prefer to keep schema details on your own infrastructure.

The diagrams are laid out to be readable, which matters when a schema has dozens of tables and you have to explain it to a teammate.

There is no price, and the source is open, so you can inspect it or adapt it.

One catch: the advanced query editor is still a work in progress, so do not plan around it yet.
