Carter Chat

You pick a character and start talking. That is the whole idea behind Carter Chat, a free AI chatbot platform with a range of AI characters for roleplay and character-based conversations.

It is built for ongoing, character-driven chat rather than answering questions or writing documents, so look elsewhere if you want a general assistant.

The pricing model is free, and the platform says its characters come without daily limits.

That matters in this category, where message caps are a common reason people drop a story halfway through.

Carter Chat runs on the web, and a dedicated app is available if you would rather chat on your phone than in a browser tab.

The idea is immersive character experiences, meaning you spend your time in conversation instead of tuning prompts.

If you want to try AI roleplay without paying or counting messages, Carter Chat is an easy place to start.

Whether it suits you comes down to which characters appeal to you, so browsing a few is the quickest test.
