Backyard AI

Backyard AI lets you chat with AI characters offline. Backyard AI is a chatbot and virtual companion platform for roleplay and story writing, with apps for iOS and desktop plus a character hub where you find and share characters.

You can run text and voice chats with fictional characters, and it needs no configuration to get started.

To shape how a character writes, Backyard AI includes Lorebooks, Author's Note and Grammars, which help you keep a consistent style across a story.

Advanced users get model parameters such as token samplers, custom context length and specialized prompt templates, so you can tune the output instead of accepting defaults.

If your hardware is not up to running models locally, Backyard Cloud offers hosted models you can reach from anywhere, with encrypted and private data.

Cloud plans are the paid route.

The offline option is the main draw for anyone who wants chats to stay on their own machine.
