Allerwell

Checking whether a menu item or packaged food is safe for your allergies is what Allerwell does. It is a mobile app that scans menus and food items, then compares the ingredients it reads against an allergy profile you set up.

Because the profile is personal, the results reflect your own triggers rather than a generic list of common allergens.

Allerwell works as an AI allergy scanner built on image analysis and OCR, so you point your phone at printed text instead of typing ingredients in by hand.

Multi-language support helps when you travel or shop abroad and cannot read the labels easily.

The app needs a smartphone and an internet connection for full functionality.

There is a catch you should know about.

Allerwell can only judge what is written on the menu or packaging.

If a kitchen or manufacturer does not fully disclose ingredients, the scan can return a false negative, so a clean result is not a guarantee.

Use it as a quick first check that gives you some peace of mind, and still ask staff when the stakes are high.
